12 Good Reasons To Hire Me

  1. As a writer, I check my facts, find a new and fresh angle to stories and add a creative flair to my stories. I am dogged in pursuing stories, and have been known to get a few exclusive stories. I am not afraid to ask the tough questions and seek the answers that my readers want.
  2. As Chief Sub-Editor and Assistant Editor, I have been very good at meeting deadlines, expanding on stories, coming up with story ideas, getting the best from my writers, meeting very tight deadlines, tightening up copy and adding focus to stories. I am also good at working with photos and graphics and coming up with headlines, captions and graphics ideas.

    I am a good leader, great at teamwork, and do not waste time beating around the bush. If a job needs to get done, I am usually the one to do it. I have dealt with staff on many different levels – talking to them as a friend, telling them off as a superior and even inspiring them to get the job done. I am a fair leader: I compliment staff on work well done, and advice them on how they can improve when the work seems lacking.

Brigitte Rozario: The StarI am versatile and have worked on several different pullouts: Metro where I covered daily events in Malaysia's capital city; Sunday Star where I covered the arts (visual as well as performing); Section 2 where I covered features of all kinds (arts, social issues, environment, books, science, health, sports, children, the disabled, even cooking!); and In.Tech where I covered features on technology as well as review products (phones and software). I have also worked with magazines such as Personal Money, FourFourTwo and MIS Asia.
  4. I am a go-getter. When I want to learn something, I absorb all the reading materials I can get my hands on, and ask people who know about these things. As such, I am self-taught on a number of subjects: I learnt art (studying from books and from talking with artists); I learnt sports (mostly from a love of football, but also from reading books, magazines and newspapers).

    Most notably I taught myself HTML (HyperText Markup Language) and with help from friends and books and a process of trial and error through having my own websites.
  5. I am creative and have written children’s storiesBrigitte Rozario : Beebo which I have put up online at my website called Beebo in DeliLand (www.beebo.com.my). Because of my love for children, writing and encouraging the creative process, I have developed the site to include stories by Malaysian children.
  6. I developed the Beebo in DeliLand website all by myself. I learnt Microsoft FrontPage to develop the site, later using Notepad to do the occasional updates through hardcoding.
  7. I am extremely resourceful. This has come in handy throughout the course of my work. I am able to find online and in hard copy, facts and details that seem to evade others. This is because of my ability to think on my feet and my dogged determination in finding what I'm looking for.
  8. I have contacts in Malaysia in the arts, technology, publishing, restaurant, insurance, tobacco and disabled communities. I also have contacts in the United States in the newspaper and technology communities.
  9. Brigitte Rozario: cameraI am a good photographer and have on many occasions taken photographs for the stories that I've written.
  10. I am interested in technology, books, arts, music, disabled, children, health and world events.
  11. Currently I am based in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. I am willing to travel if flight tickets and accommodation are provided. Otherwise, I am online every day, and hence the world is always at my fingertips.
  12. I have travelled to Singapore, Australia, China, Maldives and France, and have no problems travelling alone.
